Mental Health and Recovery

Basics

Celebrate Recovery is a peer support group. We do not provide professional services such as counseling, but we would be happy to help find someone for you to talk to.

What's the connection?

Hurts and habits can lead to shame and guilt, which can lead to depression and other mental health concerns. Some people are more inclined to mental health issues. Our program addresses guilt and shame. This can help reduce mental anguish and allow for healing as well as helping moderate the effects of diagnosed conditions.

Testimonies of Healing

Sharing is a weekly event, but we also make time for recovery testimonies. These begin with an introduction that often states, "I am a grateful believer in Jesus Christ who suffers from ...." We accept that even believers can have questions, anxiety, depression, or guilt. The first step in healing is accepting the condition.

Deliverence vs Recovery

Deliverence might be seen as a visible miracle with God intervening and removing whatever the issue is in a person's life. Examples might be the immediate lifting of depression, grief, bi-polar, or other conditions. It is a wonderful experience and proves that God can do anything.

Recovery involves finding the roots of pain and helping us deal with the hurts, hang-ups, and habits we have developed within the context of mental health struggles. Instead of being freed in one miraculous moment, you work on the actions that happen while depressed, while in a manic state, and provides a center while the mental health issue passes. It is also wonderful because it puts the glory and grace of God into interactions and behaviors during periods of affliction.

It's ok to need help

If you need help, ask. At the 988 centers, trained staff can talk with you, advise professional treatment is necessary, or contact 911 if immediate help is needed from trained medical personnel.

The worst place to be trapped is in your own mind. Sharing and confessing allow you to release the shame and guilt and step out of your own mental cage.

Celebrate Recovery believes in mental health

Celebrate Recovery Global has a Mental Health Team because they believe mental health can cause actions that work against spiritual health. Wholeness is body, mind, and spirit. Only addressing part of that triad is an incomplete ministry.

Celebrate Recovery at Trinity Church Baltimore is a safe place to share mental health struggles. You can share your hurts, guilt, or shame without judgement and without an overload of advice. For us, the only true healing comes from Jesus Christ and we will always seek to move you closer to Him.
